2023倫敦設計雙年展臺灣館｜人人材料行

本次雙年展主題強調設計的本質就是協作，仰賴人與人之間的交流連結。臺灣館為了回應主題，特別打造一間開放式的五金材料行，展現臺灣雖小，卻是全球製造供應鏈中不可或缺的一環：蓬勃的中小企業形成多元產業聚落，彼此靠近卻各自獨立，在疫情期間又能快速組隊，發揮了極大的團隊協作優勢。而臺灣在國際上複雜的處境，很難由單一外殼所定義，如同臺灣聞名世界的自行車產業，拆解成零件細看，各自鮮明有型，組合起來卻能精準運作，品質無懈可擊。

展場空間巧妙應用既存的兩座壁爐，大量的鋁擠金屬管以線性帶出製造業的速度感，進入壁爐的電磁鐵動力裝置也宛如生產線般延伸。整體運用金屬、螺絲和電磁鐵裝置作為媒材，以五金行樣貌呈現臺灣在全球分工中微小卻極具彈性的形象。

The biennale theme highlights collaboration as the essence of design, relying on communication and connections between individuals. The Taiwan Pavilion responds to this theme by creating an open hardware store, showcasing Taiwan's indispensable role in the global manufacturing supply chain despite its small size. Vibrant small and medium-sized enterprises form independent yet interconnected industry clusters, quickly adapting and collaborating during the pandemic. Taiwan's complex international situation, similar to its renowned bicycle industry, cannot be defined by a singular exterior. Disassembling the components reveals unique styles, but their assembly demonstrates precision and impeccable quality.

The exhibition space cleverly utilizes the existing two fireplaces, with a large number of extruded aluminum tubes creating a sense of speed in manufacturing. The electromagnet power devices entering the fireplaces extend like production lines. The overall design incorporates metal, screws, and electromagnet installations as the medium, presenting the image of Taiwan as a small yet highly flexible player in the global division of labor, resembling a hardware store.
